To keep the refrigerated container cold, you need a power supply with 3-phase electricity, either 460V (30 amps) or 230V (50 amps). The system must be grounded and use a surge protector. It comes with a 60-foot power cable and plug. A licensed electrician should be hired to set it up safely.

For delivery, a chassis requires about 13.5 feet of height clearance, while a tilt-bed needs around 12.6 feet. When off-loading, a tilt-bed also needs 16 feet of vertical clearance and 50-60 feet of straight-line space in front of the unit.

We recommend a lead time of 5 to 7 days. This allows us to complete a full system check and prepare the unit for delivery.

Our refrigerated containers typically offer a temperature set point range from -22°F to 86°F depending on the unit model.

No, it doesn’t need to be on a trailer. Refrigerated containers can be placed directly on the ground (tilt-bed) or on a chassis (trailer), depending on your site setup and delivery method.

Yes, SeaCube Cold Solutions handles the delivery and setup of refrigerated containers. Our team works with you to determine the best location for the unit and ensures it’s properly installed and operational. We handle the logistics so you can focus on what matters most-keeping your products cold and your business running smoothly.

Renting refrigerated containers (reefers) offers several advantages, especially for businesses with fluctuating storage needs. Key benefits include:

  • Flexibility for Seasonal Demand: Cold storage needs often rise sharply during holidays, promotional events, or seasonal harvests. Renting reefers allows businesses to quickly scale their storage capacity to meet these short-term spikes-without the long-term commitment or expense of building permanent infrastructure. This agility is especially valuable for retailers, food distributors, and event-based operations that experience periodic surges in perishable inventory.
  • Cost-Effective Solution: Traditional cold storage warehouses often come with fixed rental fees, regardless of actual usage-meaning you may end up paying for space you don't need. Renting reefers offers a more efficient alternative: you only pay for storage when and where it’s required. This pay-as-you-go model helps optimize your budget and eliminates the cost of underutilized space.
  • Avoid Overcrowded Warehouses: During peak demand, centralized cold storage facilities and store back rooms often become overcrowded, leading to delays, disorganization, and compliance risks. Many retail locations have limited cold storage capacity, and cramming in excess inventory can result in food safety code violations or compromised product quality. Renting reefers allows you to expand cold storage capacity on-site-without overloading existing infrastructure. By placing units where they’re most needed, you reduce logistical pressure, maintain compliance, and keep operations running efficiently.
  • On-Demand Cold Storage: Renting reefers offers a scalable, flexible solution that allows you to quickly meet increased demand, such as during seasonal promotions or unexpected surges. This approach eliminates the need for costly infrastructure and upfront capital investments, making it more dynamic than traditional cold storage options.

Renting reefers lets businesses rapidly scale their refrigerated storage to match seasonal demand spikes-such as holidays, summer peaks, or promotional events-without the need for permanent infrastructure. This flexibility ensures sufficient cold storage capacity is available exactly when needed, helping to prevent spoilage, stockouts, and lost sales during critical periods.

Absolutely. Traditional cold storage facilities often charge fixed fees regardless of how much space you actually use, leading to wasted costs on unused capacity. Renting reefers, however, allows you to pay only for the refrigerated space you need, when you need it. This flexibility helps reduce expenses during slower periods while still providing enough storage to handle peak demand, resulting in significant cost savings overall.

During peak times, cold storage warehouses can become congested, causing delays and logistical hurdles. Reefers can be deployed at the point of need-whether that’s a store, distribution center, or temporary location-giving you additional storage capacity without the risk of warehouse bottlenecks.

Absolutely. Reefers provide an on-demand cold storage solution that can be deployed quickly to handle unexpected surges in demand, such as product launches, promotions, or last-minute events. Renting reefers eliminates the need for costly, long-term investments in cold storage infrastructure.
